Dark & Dramatic Design

We wear it when we want to look polished—so why not use black to give a room its own dressed-up chic? Black walls may seem like a bold makeover move but when done right, the results can be dazzling. From a glossy ebony library in the Hamptons to a dusky Milan design studio, these rooms prove that black is not only beautiful—it’s mysterious, soothing, and undeniably stylish

And all of these other glamorous black rooms:

I love the modern look of black lacquered walls:

Or totally tradtional:

Or kind of a mix....

I also love it with some color, like tangerine or turquoise, or both:

Amazing bathrooms to make you drool...

We are working with a client on a traditional bathroom remodel. Below are some inspirational photos that we love.

Many people are trying to make their bathrooms unique, and one of the ways to make the bathroom unique is to go for a more personal style. With modern bathrooms being so popular, in the search for something more unique some people are going for the more traditional bathroom design.

Making a Splash With a Pool Bath

Below are some "after" photos of a pool bath that our team renovated. The original bathroom had dated floral wallpaper that screamed 1993, along with a builder grade vanity, frameless mirror and a standard builder grade light. The old shower had dated tile and a shower enclosure also from 1993.

The effect on the wall was done by our faux artist. Instead of removing the wallpaper she used an adhesion primer and than created the metallic look by using Modern Masters Metallic Paint.

We replaced the old vanity with a custom new one. The new vanity features a onyx countertop,
and an amber glass vessel bowl.

The travertine floor was laid with a zero grout line on a diamond pattern.

The new shower features travertine stone that was laid in a brick pattern.
When the stone was purchased it came as a 18" x 18" square.
We had our tile guys cut each stone in half (9" x 18") this saved the homeowner
on the cost of the stone since ordering a 9" x 18" was triple the cost per square foot.

Inside the shower we used a glass mosaic tile to create a focal point.
The colors in the glass tile tie into the wall color, the honey onyx that is used on the vanity,
and the amber of the vessel sink.

Note: When using a glass tile used an unsanded grout.

The baseboards, crown molding, doors, and trim in the room were painted black.

A new frameless shower door was installed.

New lighting was installed over the vanity.

Our thanks go out to those who helped on this project.

Kitchens That Inspire

We are working on a kitchen for a client. And I wanted to share some of our favorite inspirational kitchens that have inspired us. These are some great kitchens that could work for many different styles.

LOVE the lights and the cabinets:

I adore the wall of glass fronts, but I think it would be hard to fill them with non-utilitarian items to make them look this gorgeous:

Look at that amazing light reflection:

Different! And I think it's great:

I would prefer a sisal, but otherwise, love the glam factor:
Oooooh-la-la!

Imagine the party you could have in here:

LOVE the view and how it is open to the family room:

A.D.O.R.E:

Ooooooh, I SO want a coffee station right about now:

That view again:

Cool. Enough said:

In. Love. Again:

Part Two: Kitchen Design

So as you can see from the pictures below we are in the middle of the kitchen renovation; whats been accomplished so far is we purchased new appliances, had our faux artist paint the existing cabinets white and had our carpenter custom build an island.

The Island will be painted a light blue and have a honed black granite on top.
